Herring is a useful source of animal protein that also contains omega fatty acids. The added herring oil further enhances this. So everything is given to keep the skin and coat of the dogs healthy.

This recipe isn’t that popular in America yet, but in my opinion, you might want to give it a try.

The usual yeast extract from Farmina can also be found in this product. This makes this dog food even more special and irresistible.

The composition of this dry dog food is 60% animal ingredients, 20% organic spelt and oats, and 20% vegetables and fruits. This is how this formula becomes natural and balanced.

The fiber content is 2.9%, so Farmina N&D Ancestral Grain Medium & Maxi Adult may not be suitable for all dogs. This is because the ideal fiber content is around 4-5%.

  • Added natural omega 3 fatty acids

While there is no problem with this product’s quality, some may have some questions about the ingredients. This is because manufacturers usually make dog food with alternative proteins. After all, some dogs are sensitive to poultry.

Alternative proteins found in Farmina N&D Prime Boar & Apple Medium & Maxi Adult are boar, venison, and rabbit. However, there is also chicken among the ingredients. So only buy this product if your dog is not sensitive to chicken. Please don’t buy it because you expect alternative proteins not to be a problem for your dog.

The last member on my list is chicken and pomegranate flavored canned wet dog food. Boneless chicken is an excellent source of protein, but herring is also one of the ingredients. This, when supplemented with herring oil, is a great source of omega fatty acids.

The recipe does not contain any ingredients that are harmful to dogs. So it does not contain corn, soy, wheat, artificial colors, preservatives, GMOs, etc.

There can be no complaint about the taste at all. Your dog will quite simply love it. Reviews are also very positive about Farmina Natural & Delicious Prime Chicken & Pomegranate Canned Dog Food.

Farmina Pet Foods history

Farmina pet foods company was introduced in 2013 by Russo Mangimi Company, founded by the Italian Francesco Russo. Incidentally, Russo Mangimi was founded in 1965 and was officially engaged in animal nutrition.

From 1999, Francesco Russo’s son, Angelo, aimed to create the best possible pet food with the help of science. They collaborated with an English research company called Farmina.

The company continued to expand and also collaborated with some independent research institutes. One such example is the chair of Nutrition and Animal Nutrition at the University of Naples Federico II.

After that, the Farmina Vet Research team was formed, which was full of experts. For example, veterinarians and nutritional formulation specialists. The group’s goal is to find a possible solution to meet each pet’s unique needs.

At present, the company has three factories. Brazil, Serbia, and Italy. Farmina Pet Foods began selling in the U.S. in 2013. The recipes meet the requirements of AAFCO and the European Union to the maximum.

Sourcing, Manufacturing Process, and Ingredients

Only good things can be said about Farmina Pet Food Company’s sourcing and manufacturing process. Ingredients do not include GMOs, artificial preservatives, dyes, additives. The company uses tocopherol-containing extracts for preservation. Tocopherols also make up vitamin E, meaning they are very healthy.

The manufacturer uses nitrogen during packaging. It is also a natural preservative that is not harmful. Due to nitrogen, there is no oxygen left in the fodder bags. That way, nothing is left in the bags that could lead to rancidity.

Farmina foods are primarily designed for carnivorous dogs. Ingredients include the best quality meats, from chicken to lamb to wild boar and cod. Free-range chicken and eggs are sourced from Italy. Cod and herring come from the North Sea. There is also Italian wild boar and New Zealand lamb as main protein sources.

These protein sources provide all the amino acids and other useful nutrients for dogs. Farmina dog foods also contain adequate amounts of essential fatty acids.

Carbohydrates are GMO-free and have a good effect on digestion due to the fibers. We also find useful and healthy ingredients in recipes like fruits and vegetables. Because of this, we don’t have to worry about supplying our dogs with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Farmina products also contain glucosamine and chondroitin for the health of the joints in dogs.

Farmina conducts careful scientific research into the ingredients. The only goal of the company is to be able to create the most beneficial recipes for pets. The dishes also contain unique ingredients such as green tea, marigold, rosemary, aloe vera, prebiotics, and probiotics.

The offer includes dry kibble and wet canned food as well. Therefore, you can choose the best one based on your dog and your individual preference.

However, the biggest advantage of Farmina products is that they offer food for various problems. If you have a dog with special dietary needs, be sure to follow Farmina’s recipes. Vet-Life dog food is only available by prescription.

Most Farmina dog food is grain-free or low in grain. So if your dog is allergic or sensitive to these ingredients, then in these cases, these products are also good options.

Farmina Recall History

Customer reviews about Farmina products

When evaluating a product, I always look at what real customers are saying about it. Below I have gathered some reviews from Chewy’s website.

Farmina N&D Ancestral Grain Lamb & Blueberry

Positive

Great food!

  • I have tried so many different brands of kibble but my dog never liked them, she’d leave her food sitting there for hours before finally giving in and eating. I did a ton of research on other kibble brands and decided to try this one; she’s been eating it for 6 weeks and she LOVES it! She can’t get enough, she goes crazy for it. I’m so thrilled! I have a 50 pound female pit bull.

A food the dogs and I can agree on

  • My 4 Berners have eaten a variety of good foods, from Acana to Fromm to Sport. Three of the 4 have always been good eaters but when they started looking dubiously at their meals, even with some Primal added in, I felt it was time to find something else. It’s hard to find a food where the first ingredient is real meat (instead of meat meal) and has no legumes or peas. Farmina fits the bill. From their first bite, the dogs loved it. Adored it actually. Even the pickiest of them never leaves an atom of Farmina behind. So while we are only on the second bag, so far I’m thrilled…even if they start acting like alarm clocks to get me up earlier than necessary so they can have breakfast!

Negative

 Great Dog Food

  • My ~3 year old pitbull terrier absolutely loves this food. She starts drooling every time I prepare her meals. The only downside is that the food is a bit expensive. Her stools are also normal and solid after switching over to this food. I didn’t have any issues in the transition.

Farmina N&D Ocean Codfish & Orange

Positive

 Don’t hesitate!

  • This food has exploded my dog into a glossy, happy, muscled lean Cane Corso! The ingredients alone are say it all. I looked for months for a food that didn’t have crap fillers and crap protein sources. The only ingredient-just one, is the beet pulp, not bad for dogs at all, just unnecessary; however, I could not find any on the market with none, I looked at well over 100 brands. This food has changed her life. This brand is also made that if your dog gets picky, you can interchange them. If the ingredients always stay the same, we’re Farmina for life!

 Great Alternative For Grain Free

  • We have a dog with grain allergies, so we’ve been feeding him grain-free food. We read the reports and spoke with our vet about the problems with grain-free foods. We found this alternative and tried it. He likes it and we haven’t had any skin problems. Yeah! We have put both of our dogs on it, and they both like it with no problems.

Negative

Dogs love it

  • I haven’t been feeding it for very long. Dogs seem to love it. I was looking for a food with no potatoes, peas or beans. This is one of the few foods that fit the bill. Be warned it is smelly.
