The best 5 cat trees for large cats: reviews and Guide

If you are in a hurry and want to know right away:

I chose Go Pet Club 62-Inch Cat Tree as the best cat tree for large cats.

If you have adult cats, you know exactly what their needs are. They jump around a lot, play, and like scratching their nails. To prevent these activities from damaging your furniture, you need to get a cat tree. While, the choice is huge and it is not easy to navigate, I have soma advice and recommendations for you.

In this article, I am going to review the following cat trees for large breeds:

Anyway, you might want to read the full article because I’ve put together some helpful tips on the subject.

Why you should get a cat tree?

Chances are, if you’ve come here, you have some idea why you want one. However, I have tried to compile as many reasons as possible why it is worth considering.

A high place

Cats, by their very nature, like to be high and sleep. From here they will also have a good view of the surrounding area. If you have more cats, the height of the cat tree can also be useful. Cats can also use the cat tree to show dominance. The most dominant individual will climb to the highest point.

And of course, keep in mind that while they are up there, they won’t harm your furniture.

Something to scratch

Most cat trees have a section designed specifically for this purpose. One more thing that keeps your furniture going longer!

Activity

As I mentioned, cats like to climb high. Doing this several times a day keeps them fit.

Durability

If you make the right choice, you only need to invest once in a longer-term. Cat trees are designed to be durable.

Sense of security

There are cats who prefer to hide rather than be in front of the eyes. Some cat trees have boxes and tunnels for this purpose.

How much space do you need?

The below-mentioned cat trees are not larger than 20×20. It can fit in almost any room. No bigger than a wardrobe or a sofa. Including its benefits, there’s plenty of room for that. There are especially gigantic sized cat trees. However, it is not necessarily worth buying them. Most cat owners do not need this size. Height, yet, is worth measuring. There are quite tall cat trees that may not fit in an old house with lower ceilings.

I should note that although you don’t need a huge sized cat tree, it should be big enough. Cats love to stretch, and you’re better off choosing a product that fits your feline comfortably.

Are cat trees safe for large cats?

My short answer is that it may be. The longer answer is yes if you choose wisely. In this article, I have tried to choose products that are not unstable or dangerous. The more stable varieties contain materials that are not easily bent and heavy.

When it comes to placement, it’s best to put it in the corner. This way, it is less likely to fall over.

Last but not least many cat castles come with stability straps. If it doesn’t come with one, then you can easily make one for yourself. You will need some rope and an eyelet drilled into a stud in your wall.

How to choose a cat tree?

How to choose the right cat tree? What to pay attention to? If this is your first time buying this for your pet, the following will be helpful. But if it’s not the first time, you can still learn from it.

Price

Try not to choose the cheapest one. As with many things, the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Cheaper varieties are made of inferior materials. Or they are easily wobbled when a big cat jumps on them.

Nothing worse than a cat tree collapsing under your cats because it’s made of shoddy materials.

Base

I think it’s worth checking out first. You don’t want your cat tree to be loose and shaky. A base of about 20×20 is recommended. But there are manufacturers that make cat woods that are even more widely based.

Tiers

Not all cats like to be up. Some prefer the life below. To be sure, choose a cat tree that has at least 2-3 tiers of varying heights. This is especially important if you have more than one cats so they can share the tiers.

Perches

The same applies to perches. Make sure your cat tree has enough perches for your cats. You will also want to make sure they are wide enough for your cats to lay on.

Scratching posts

Sharpening their nails or some kind of marking (leaving their scents). No matter what the reason, cats love scratching posts. It is best to have at least 4-5 of these on the cat tree. Scratching posts are covered in a material known as sisal rope. It’s perfect for cats to scratch. It is really durable and can last a lifetime.

Condos

Cats like to be in these. Condos give them a sense of security and make them feel their own. Most cat trees have these, but be sure to choose one that has as many condos as many cats you have. These condos are typically made from pressed wood and covered with a faux fur

Assembly

If you do not want to spend a lot of time, choose one that is easy to assemble. You can find this out by reading reviews. As well as whether you need extra tools for assembly.

My Top 5

Below I have collected five sturdy cat trees for large cats. I will evaluate these from various points of view.

Go Pet Club 62-Inch Cat Tree

Go Pet Club is one of the biggest brands on the market. So it’s no accident that I included two of their products in the reviews. This one is 62 inches tall so it’s more than likely it’ll fit in the room.

Made of excellent materials. In addition, its weight is quite high. This makes it extremely stable and does not wobble even when there are more cats on it.

It is covered in high-quality faux fur. It has multiple posts that are lined with natural sisal rope. It is also made from highly durable compressed wood. The quiet and roomy condo allows for your cat to nap without any disruptions; perches with raised edge allow more safety and support for your cat.

The biggest weakness of this cat tree is the hammock. If you fully tighten the hammock’s screws, the ends will stick out from the tree. This can even be dangerous to cats.

It comes with included tools, so so you won’t have a problem with the assembly.

Pros

  • Easy to assemble
  • Platforms are very comfortable to touch
  • Stable and sturdy
  • Reasonable price

Cons

  • While easy to assemble, instructions are not good enough
  • The hammock is not well designed

AmazonBasics Multi-Level Cat Tree with Scratching Posts

What I like about this brand is that it offers several variations on the same product. The one I am writing about contains one condo.

Made of high-quality materials, this is apparent from the first moment. It is constructed with natural sisal, plush, and sturdy chipboard.

It’s quite easy to assemble. The instructions are not really clear but can be handled if you use the photo of the product too.

Its plush covering is -however great quality- too thin. Probably won’t last long, but it’s also cat-dependent. Mechanically perfect, this cat tree can handle even really big cats. But for cats like this, this condo may be a little tight.

Pros

  • Affordable price for these all features and size.
  • Easy to assemble
  • Quite stable

Cons

  • Thin plush covering
  • The condo could be bigger

Vesper Cat Furniture

What immediately comes to mind about this cat tree is that its look is very clean, elegant. Many cat trees may not fit your furniture, but this won’t be a problem here.

Assembly is much less than an hour. Even those who have never done it put together, with its clear instructions.

It has two platforms and one condo. Each surface has a memory foam topper which is quite good to touch. There are spots for both rest and play and privacy.

Unfortunately, this cat tree is not very stable. The parts look strong on their own, but they do not fit together well. And because the parts are quite heavy, the cat tree is a little bit wobbly.

Three small balls attached to the line are a good idea. Cats love to play with it. However, they did not succeed, they soon fell out of place.

Pros

  • Design
  • Easy assemble
  • The comfortable condo where cats love to sleep

Cons

  • Overall the price is high
  • Not sturdy
  • Ball toy not durable

Yaheetech 51-Inch Cat Tree Tower

This cat tree has two condos. For this reason, if you have two cats that like to hide, this might be a good choice. The three top platforms are good for cats who like to be high. It has also two balls for playful cats.

The clear benefits of this cat tree are its great looks and stability. The material it is made of is very soft. I also like its color. For that price, it’s a pretty good product.

It’s really easy to assemble. The parts are numbered and there is a detailed guide with all the instructions.

Though three perches on the top is a good idea, they are not for really large cats. However, condos compensate for this problem a lot.

Pros

  • Assembly
  • Stable
  • Two condos, perches, balls and all the features for an affordable price

Cons

  • Smaller than you think
  • Not all parts are for big cats

FEANDREA 67 inches Multi-Level Cat Tree

The quality is apparent at first sight, though they ask for the price. The two condos and the three perches are made from plush. They seem to be really comfortable.

The carpeting is soft, the colors are nice. You can imagine this design in every room.

It should be noted that despite its attractive appearance and excellent materials, it is not easy to put it together. However, the fact that the product is extremely stable is what makes us well off.

The top perches are big enough so larger cats can climb up and linger on top. Balls hanging from the upper platforms are also much loved by cats.

Pros

  • Sturdy
  • Great design
  • Lots of interactive parts for cats
  • Great materials

Cons

  • A little bit expensive
  • Hard to assemble

Although it has some design flaws (hammock), Go Pet Club 62-Inch Cat Tree is the best choice I think. Assembly is not a major problem. Made of high-quality material, it feels good to touch. It can hold up to many cats without much problem, so it’s very stable. All at a price, everyone can afford.

FEANDREA 67 inches Multi-Level Cat Tree was a close second runner-up almost. Although, due to its price, I definitely put it second. For anyone who wants to spend more on their beloved felines, this can also be a great choice.
